Rusting Powder - Pigment Powder - PaperArtsy
With PaperArtsy's Rusting Powder you can easily and quickly achieve unique rust effects on many surfaces including wood, paper, fabric, etc. Natural surfaces work best because they have porous surfaces.
Application tip:
- Use a craft glue or other gel medium (e.g. also Versamark Ink, Tacky Glue, Crackle Paste). Apply it to your surface so that the rust powder can adhere to the surface to be treated.
- Sprinkle the powder over the wet medium (do not mix, just dust) and gently shake off the excess.
- Spray with water or white vinegar or lemon juice (carefully and not too much) and leave to act (at least 3-4 hours, depending on the medium used, ideally let it dry overnight) so that the rust effect can activate.
- After drying, carefully brush off any remaining loose powder.
- Some surfaces or projects may benefit from a coat of sealer such as satin or gloss glaze.
Tip: To be able to apply the powder in the right amount, pierce a small hole in the aluminum lid with a pin and make a shaker. It is best to use pin needles with colorful heads on them or adhesive tape to close the bottles again.
